What BMX should I buy

December 03, 2014

Christmas is the time of year when we spend a lot of time teaching parents (and grandparents) about BMX bikes.  It's important to us, your local BMX shop, that we make sure you get a bike that you will be happy with, and one that will stand up to the punishment  BMX riding dishes out. Here are a few things that Non-riders (aka Parents and Grandparents) need to know before they purchase you a BMX. So grab your family because it's time to discuss what bike is right for you!

1. Budget: this is often the hardest to deal with but definitely the most important.  Putting it bluntly you get what you pay for.  The Encore Amp ($389.99) is a great bike for a light weight beginning rider, but if you are 150lbs and 5'8" it's not going to be the best choice.  At that height/weight you may want to consider stepping up to a We the People Reason  ($639.99) it is a stronger bike that will standup longer.

 2. Features: Pegs, Hub Guards, and Coloured grips can be added to any bike after purchase, so don't get too caught up in whether or not the pegs are included, (if you are buying a nice bike, we are in a good mood, and you ask nicely we may even throw in some pegs for Christmas). These also make great affordable gifts for Aunts/Uncles Grandparents etc.

3. Colour: We all want our bike to be cool but if you limit yourself to a colour that is not available you may not find a bike under the tree.  Give some options - that way you'll be surprised Christmas morning.

4. If your not sure whats right - contact us!  We want you to be on the best bike possible so that you are stoked to be riding it! Call or email us and we will be happy to help you pick the right bike!

If all else fails get a gift certificate!
